Colin Cowherd: Browns May Move on From Failing Leader Baker Mayfield

Colin Cowherd: “Being a quarterback is not just about throwing the ball a long way, 30% of the position is leadership and being a grownup. It’s why I wasn’t a fan of Baker Mayfield. I don’t think he’s a bad human being, I just think he’s got bad instincts, he’s immature, he’s cocky, and his personality is undraftable If I was a GM… So, Baker Mayfield after a game rips the medical staff and has to apologize on Twitter. Then a former Brown Jaelen Strong rips the Browns’ medical staff too. Strong wouldn’t have said that if Baker didn’t open the door, and now the owner of Cleveland is PISSED and looks like a guy who can't even hire the right medical staff. The medical staff is FURIOUS because they look like clowns, and I guarantee you the GM John Dorsey is having to put out fires from this too. That ‘C’ on your uniform stands for ‘Captain’, not ‘Cocky’. Where are the leadership qualities?? The opposite of leadership is calling out co-workers. I think there is a growing group of people in that organization that are about DONE with Baker. He doesn’t make any money now but he’s going to make real big boy money in about two years. There are going to be hands raised in those offices saying ‘I’M OVER HIM’.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks the Cleveland Browns front office is rapidly losing faith in second-year quarterback Baker Mayfield, not necessarily because of his lukewarm stock as an NFL quarterback going forward, but because of his lack of competence when it comes to being the face of the franchise.

Mayfield made headlines when he blasted the Browns’ medical staff relating to Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr’s sports hernia injury, with Mayfield telling reporters “It wasn’t handled the right way in our training room” and that the injury “wasn’t addressed early enough.”

The comments obviously struck a nerve with the team internally, because Mayfield would quickly issue an apology.

A day later and former Browns cornerback Jaelen Strong came forward on Twitter, backing Mayfield's comments and alluding to the Browns medical staff pushing its players too hard.

Colin says the fiasco is humiliating to the franchise and Pandora's Box was opened by Mayfield himself, who should be the last guy on the team you'd expect to manufacture horrible PR.

Check out the video above as Colin details why he thinks there are definitely members of that Browns front office who are sick and tired of his constant drama, and would prefer to move on from Mayfield's antics when his rookie deal is up in two years.
