Jason Smith: “Kenny Pickett will win the starting job week one for the Steelers and it’s pretty easy to see how this is going to go... Trubisky and Rudolph haven’t really seized the job this far, and Pickett is starting to look better. The real question for the Steelers franchise is what are you gaining if you don’t start Pickett? You’re just holding up the advancement of Kenny Pickett! If you had another great option, I would say alright then, fine. If you had a situation like Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance it’d be a different story. Mike Tomlin is going to say we are not postponing the future, Pickett is starting week one for the Steelers!”
Mike Harmon: “Trubisky is penciled in as the number one right now, but if Pickett can show that he’s acclimated and he’s picked up the terminology, certainly the opportunity is there but I think it comes later in the season. I respect the bold call but I think you’re throwing shade at me for my love of the former Bears quarterback.”
On The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon, the guys made their NFL pre-season bold predictions before kick-off week one. Jason thinks Kenny Pickett will be starting for the Steelers week one but Mike doesn’t think he should count out Mitchell Trubisky or Mason Rudolph for the job. The two agreed that Tony Pollard could be the number one running back for the Cowboys and discussed a possible quarterback controversy brewing in San Francisco between Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance.
