Dale Earnhardt Jr. Plans To Race After Surviving Fiery Plane Crash

Daytona 500

Dale Earnhardt Jr. says he will not let a plane crash keep him off the race track. Earnhardt was flying with his wife and one-year-old daughter when their plane careened off the runway and burst into flames last week. Luckily, nobody was seriously injured in the crash.

Earnhardt was asked on Twitter if the plane crash would sideline him from an upcoming race at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina.

The semi-retired NASCAR driver replied saying that despite his injuries he has every intention of driving in the Xfinity Series race on August 31.

"Yes. I plan on driving still. My lower back is bruised up real bad. Lots of swelling and I just need that to go down and the pain to chill out. I been treating the area every day solely to get well to race. I have a plan B but hope not to use it."

If Earnhardt is unable to race due to his injuries, he will have another driver take his place.
