The Vikings' offense was clicking on all cylinders as they handled the Saints 29-19 in the opener of a doubleheader on "Monday Night Football" at U.S Bank Stadium. Sam Bradford completed 27-of-32 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns, two of which were to Stefon Diggs. Diggs finished with seven catches and 93 yards, while Adam Thielen led Minnesota with 157 yards and nine receptions. Rookie running back Dalvin Cook had an impressive debut, piling up 127 yards on 22 carries.
Drew Brees threw for 291 yards and a score in the loss. New Orleans was held to 60 yards on 21 carries mainly split between Adrian Peterson, Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram. The Saints were outgained 470-to-344.
The Broncos avoided an embarrassing fourth-quarter collapse when they blocked the Chargers' game-tying field goal attempt to pull out a 24-21 win in Denver in the late game. Younghoe Koo had his first career field goal attempt from 44 yards out turned away by Shelby Harris.
The Broncos stormed out to a 24-7 lead behind two touchdown passes from Trevor Siemian to Bennie Fowler the Third. The 17-point cushion almost disappeared behind two turnovers from Denver in the final quarter and two Philip Rivers touchdown passes. Rivers completed 22-of-33 passes for 192 yards and connected with Melvin Gordon, Keenan Allen and Travis Benjamin on his three scores.
