The Washington Capitals and the rest of the NHL announced the 2015-2016 regular-season schedule on Thursday.

Nearly half of the Caps' home games will be on weekends with 8 Friday games, 7 Saturday games, and 4 Sunday games.

The season opens at Verizon Center on October 10 with a game against the New Jersey Devils.  On October 15, the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks come to D.C.

The New York Rangers come to D.C. for a January 17 matchup.
